Senior Operations Manager

Job Description

The Role

You will be responsible for the operational management of an FM contract across a large and complex healthcare estate. This includes ensuring compliance, meeting SLA and KPI targets, and overseeing the delivery of both planned and reactive maintenance activities.


You will lead a sizeable operational team and play a central role in maintaining service continuity within a live, critical healthcare environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day Hard FM operations across the estate
  • Manage and monitor operational performance against SLA and KPI targets
  • Lead teams spanning Operations Managers, Helpdesk, M&E Engineers, Electricians, and Fabric and Grounds
  • Drive effective delivery of PPM and reactive maintenance programmes
  • Chair daily operational meetings and manage monthly performance reporting
  • Attend compliance meetings covering Water, Ventilation, Electrical, and Medical Gas
  • Serve as a key point of contact between operational stakeholders
  • Support ongoing construction and infrastructure projects across the site
  • Ensure full operational compliance within a live healthcare environment


About the Site

The estate is large and operationally complex, comprising PFI and retained estate buildings, community buildings, a multi-storey car park, and live emergency and urgent care environments.

The site is currently undergoing significant change, including a major cladding replacement programme, ongoing construction activity, and wider estate restructuring.


What We're Looking For

  • A strong Hard FM or M&E background, ideally with progression from an engineering discipline
  • Experience within healthcare, NHS, PFI, or other critical environments
  • Proven ability to lead and manage large operational engineering teams
  • Sound knowledge of PPM, reactive maintenance, compliance, and SLA/KPI management
  • Experience working within live operational healthcare settings
  • The ability to challenge contractors and drive accountability across teams


Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • HNC, HND, or Level 4 technical qualification
  • AP status in Water, Electrical, or Medical Gas is highly desirable
  • Experience within PFI environments
  • Familiarity with CAFM systems such as Maximo
