Are you a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor with strong NEC contract experience looking to take commercial ownership of major rail infrastructure projects? \n  \nDo you have experience delivering contractor-side rail schemes under NEC Option A or lump sum contracts? \n  \nAre you looking to join a growing, family-run contractor with secured rail work through to 2028 and a flexible, supportive management structure?

\n  \nLocation: Cardiff \nSalary: £45,000 - £75,000 per annum DOE \nBenefits: \n·Car allowance (£4,500 - £5,500) or electric company car \n·25 days annual leave plus bank holidays \n·5% pension contribution \n·Paid mileage for site visits outside normal commute \n·Professional fees and APC/Chartership support \n·Long-term secured workload across rail, civils, highways, and structures sectors \n  \nRole Overview: \nDue to continued project growth within their rail business, my client is looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor to commercially lead a portfolio of NEC rail infrastructure projects across Wales. \n  \nThis role will involve managing two key programmes, including a circa £3m Access for All (AFA) Design & Build scheme involving civils, structures, and telecommunications works, alongside a long-term ticket validator and gate installation programme running through to 2027/2028. \n  \nThe successful candidate will take ownership of all commercial activities across these schemes, ensuring projects are delivered successfully while managing risk, cost control, subcontractor management, and client relationships.

\n  \nYou will join a family-run contractor with a central commercial team supporting multiple infrastructure sectors including rail, civils, highways, and structures. The business offers flexibility, progression opportunities, and a collaborative working culture. \n  \nKey Responsibilities: \n·Commercial management of NEC Option A / lump sum rail projects \n·Manage subcontract procurement, accounts, and variations \n·Prepare and manage CVRs, forecasts, and cost reporting \n·Administer NEC contracts and manage commercial risk \n·Support project delivery teams throughout the project lifecycle \n·Attend project and client meetings \n·Carry out periodic site visits across Wales \n·Maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders \n·Support junior commercial staff where required \n  \nEssential Requirements: \n·Strong NEC contract experience (Option A preferred) \n·Experience working for a contractor within rail \n·Experience managing lump sum or target cost projects \n·Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills \n·Full UK driving licence \n  \nDesired Requirements: \n·Experience on civils, structures, or station projects \n·HNC/HND/Degree in Quantity Surveying or similar \n·Professional accreditation or working towards chartership \n  \nThis is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing infrastructure contractor delivering long-term rail programmes across Wales with genuine progression opportunities and a flexible, people-focused culture.
